SCREW EXTRACTOR FOR RELEASING JAMMED AND CORRODED MANHOLE COVERS – ES1

A safety aid that allows the removal of manhole covers without the use of a hammer, when they are stuck due to immobility, rust, deposits, or deformation.

Using a hammer to release stuck covers can be dangerous, as it may cause flying debris and the creation of sparks — particularly hazardous in manholes of natural gas or petrochemical networks — as well as breakage of the cover itself, since cast iron is a brittle material.

This accessory is used in combination with a suitable clamp ITALIFTERS, which is positioned at the cover’s grip point and secured to the extractor’s adjustable pulling mechanism. By turning the screw clockwise, a strong upward force is applied, breaking through deposits and allowing the cover to be initially lifted by a few millimeters. The cover can then be easily raised using standard lifting equipment.

The lifting screw is rotated using a screwdriver or a lever inserted into the upper ring of the mechanism. The support point is positioned outside the manhole frame, on a special metal plate, which provides a stable base and prevents the screw foot from sinking into asphalt surfaces during operation.
