THE PROGRAMME

3rd ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE « ENERGY SAVING – UPGRADE HOMES» 2026

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry has announced the 3rd Call for Applications of the “Energy Saving – Upgrade Homes” Grant Scheme, with a total budget of €20 million, as part of the “TH.A.L.E.I.A.” Programme 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union.

The Scheme is aimed at owners of existing homes and provides grants for their energy upgrades, including roof and external wall insulation, replacement of windows and doors, upgrading heating/cooling systems, and photovoltaic installations. The goal is to create a home with reduced energy losses, lower energy bills, and greater comfort throughout the year.

Basic Requirement:Your home’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be issued after 15/05/2026 by a Qualified Energy Expert. If required, we can recommend a qualified consultant.

KEY DETAILS OF THE PROGRAMME

| Objective

Reduction of the home’s primary energy consumption by at least 60%, by comparing the initial and final Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) after completion of the renovation works.

| Grant Percentage

Up to 60% for general households and an increased rate of up to 80% for vulnerable consumers, according to the official Implementation Guide.

Eligibility Requirement

The initial Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of the property must have been issued after 15/05/2026.

Who is eligible for a grant under the “Energy Saving – Upgrade Homes 2026” Scheme?

Eligible applicants are individuals who own an existing residential property that is not used for conducting economic activities. The property must also:

  • Be owned by an individual
  • Have an existing EAC electricity account with a residential tariff, which must also be registered in the name of an individual
  • Have been connected to the electricity grid before 1 January 2008 (or the application for the planning/building permit must have been submitted before 21/12/2007)

An additional requirement is that the initial Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be issued after 15/05/2026 by a Qualified Energy Expert. Each individual may submit only one application.
