Description
Oerlikon (Erlikon) Citofonte Monel Electrode. This electrode deposits metal with approximately 70% Ni and 30% Cu. It provides a stable arc and produces welds free of cracks and porosity. Residual stresses in the base or deposited metal can be reduced by hammering. The deposited metal is machinable. Suitable for welding cast iron to steel. Surfaces to be welded must be thoroughly cleaned of paint, grease, oil, and rust. To prevent weld failure due to internal stresses, the cast iron should not be overheated. Recommendations include: 1) choosing the smallest possible electrode diameter, 2) using low current intensity, and 3) depositing short weld beads with sufficient spacing to avoid local overheating of the weld.
